I really enjoyed reading this book and how the characters were developed. I especially like Sophie and how her relationship developed with the daughter of Seamus. Since the American Revolution is over Sophie is struggling and isn't sure how she is going to survive anymore. Sophie meets Lily Cate out on a walk one day and they seem to bond quickly. Seamus had lost his wife and Lily Cate enjoyed having that mother figure. Seamus and Sophie become friendly and when he finds out about Sophie's financial struggles he is wanting to help her. He eventually asks her to marry him, in name only, and the three of them embark on a brand new journey.
