Book Review: The Crimson Cord by Jill Eileen Smith

What can I say about this book other than it was one of the most amazing books I've ever read! I have never read anything that I can recall from this other and I was just totally blown away with this book.  I sat down to start this book and down not want to put it away. I read it in a matter of hours because I was so into the characters and the story that I just couldn't stop.  We have all heard/read the story of Rahab, but this really had my mind thinking in a different perspective.  We think about love, forgiveness, evil, trust, etc.  so often and this book put all those in such a different light.  The emotions in this story were so raw and so real that the reader could just imagine being right there at that time and being in that situation.  How would I respond? What would I do? When I finished this book I immediately went online and requested ever book my library had by this author. I couldn't wait to read another one of her books.

Book Review: Anna's Crossing by Suzanne Woods Fisher

I love any book that is related to the Amish.  For some reason when I started reading this book I just wasn't getting into it.  Later I realized it was because it's not your typical story about the Amish. For me that meant I needed to spend more time than 5 minutes here and there reading it because otherwise I wasn't becoming involved with the characters.  Once I sat down and devoted some time to actually reading the book I started to enjoy it so much more.  There are many people mentioned in the book, but only a few "real" characters that you get to know.  My favorite character was actually a child, Felix.  He is put on this great ship and then told to stay downstairs.  You can only imagine how that goes over with him!  Anna is not happy about being on this ship, but she is the only person going with their group that speaks English and she is suppose to go between the Amish and the ships people.  It seems as if almost anything and everything happens on this ship and I truly enjoyed this book by the end. I think Suzanne Fisher does a wonderful job of developing the characters.  I felt like I was right there on the ship.
