Book Review: Life UNSTUCK by Pat Layton

Haven't we all felt stuck at one point in our life? I know that I have and there are several ways that we can deal with our feelings.  Pat shows us a wonderful way to deal with the feelings of being "stuck" with scripture and laughter.  Who could ask for a better approach?? I think the picture on the cover gives you an indication of what the book is about when you see a come stuck to a shoe.  Haven't we all dealt with that before? That just seems like the type of thing that could ruin your day if you let it.  I think Pay has some great ideas here and we can always benefit from scripture and laughter.

Book Review: The Legacy by Dan Walsh & Gary Smalley

This is book 4 of The Restoration Series.  I have really enjoyed this series and feel like the characters have really been developed for us to know and understand them.  In this book Doug has been drifting more and more away from his family.  He is doing things that his family wouldn't approve of.  He decides to enter a graphic novel contest with his friend Jason and they are both confident that they will win the grand prize.  Christina, who thought they were growing close, realizes that he is growing away from all of them.  She's decides that she needs to start making some changes in her life and moving forward.  I really like the family dynamics that are set up in this book.  I think they make the reader feel like it could be their own family going through these ups and downs.  I would recommend this entire series.

Book Review: Every Bride Needs a Groom by Janice Thompson

This book was such a great read! What girl doesn't dream of her wedding? She waits for the proposal, she plans and hopefully it all goes just the way she wants it too.  Katie is waiting and planning just like everyone else, but she has the chance to enter a contest in Texas Bride for the dress of her dreams.  She knows it's a long shot, but she enters anyway.  Who wouldn't want to win a contest like that and be able to have a dress made just for them.  Katie thinks everything is going as planned until her boyfriend decides to change plans on her.  Things start to unwind from there and go in all different directions.  I really liked how the author developed all the characters and I think one of my favorites was Alva.

Book Review: SAND in MY SANDWICH by SARAH PARSHALL PERRY

I laugh quite a bit while reading this book.  There were so many things written here that I think have happened to just about every mom out there.  We as moms tend to act like our lives are perfect and that in turn makes it harder for other moms as they then feel pressure to be perfect.  Raising children is not an easy or perfect job and if you have a special needs child or more than one that just adds to the chaos.  My mom always told me to laugh or you'll cry and I try to remind myself that on the rough days.  After reading this book and realizing how many of my days seemed to match the authors it just again validated my thoughts that life isn't perfect for all moms and we just need to support each other.  I think we need more books like this to help us realize that all of us are just trying to get through the day while keeping our kids healthy and happy.

Book Review: the beauty of grace- stories of God's love from today's most popular writers

This book was a wonderful read.  There are over 17 wonderful people contributing in this book.  Every story is different, but they are all touching.  They all come from the heart, are written with love and warmth.  When I was reading this book I felt as though I was sitting in a room with a group of good friends.  It felt as if we were all sitting and telling each other our deepest stories.  I love when I read stories or books like this because then I get to really feel that I know the hearts of others and feel that I'm not always going through certain situations alone.  I would recommend this book to everyone.  It's an easy book, you can stop at start it at lots of different places and it's one book that you won't regret reading when you are done!

Book Review: Romancing Your Better Half by Rick Johnson

I think many of us that have been married for more than a few years often forget about the romance aspect of our marriage.  It's not that our marriages are bad, it's just that they lack that spark that was there when we first got married.  We have children, jobs, houses to run and we aren't just focusing on us like we were when we first got married.  I think women are often reading books more then men about how to make their marriages better or how to "fix" them.  It's not that they are broken, it's just that we need to take that time to focus on ourselves a little more again.  This book is written in a way that is an easy read and shows everyone, even the people that are very set in their ways, how to bring that romance back.  I think both husband and wife should read this book because both could and would benefit from it.
